While the world has known about Canadian pop star Justin Bieber's previously abandoned pets, it has come to light this week that there was yet another pet that he left somewhere and never returned for. This time, it is an adorable American Bulldog puppy named Karma. The 20-year-old singer reportedly left the pup with a dog trainer in February 2014 and hasn't been back since.
Dog trainer Trevor Dvernichuk has spoken out to several papers in order to get Bieber to pick up his dog. he states, "This is like taking your kid to school and not picking it back up."
Originally, Bieber's father asked Dvernichuk to look after the bulldog in Ontario for a few weeks to get it trained up before taking her to America. However, any member of the family is yet to return for the pooch, ignoring Dvernichuk's calls to take her back.
Not only is Bieber stated to have abandoned the puppy, but he has also not paid for the upkeep with the dog trainer or her care. "A shame," says Dvernichuk, "as she is one of the best behaved American bulldog's I have worked with."
This is just another notch in a growing belt of abandoned pets by the pop star. It started with the 20-month of Capuchin monkey Mally that was detained in Germany for not having the proper papers or vaccines. Even though Bieber was told he could come get his monkey after it was taken care of by German customs, he declined and left the country. Then there was Pac the hamster. Bieber gave the hamster to a screaming fan at a Jingle Ball concert and made her promise to take care of him. Alas, the teenager was not a great pet parent and the hamster was reported dead three months later.
The singer's busy lifestyle is probably not the most cohesive for responsible pet care, but by abandoning all these animals in such wanton ways, he is sending a terrible message to his impressionable fans. With thousands of dogs killed each day due to overpopulation, this kind of idea of disposable pets is a terrible comment on our celebrity culture.
