Some things are just meant to go together - peanut butter and jelly, eggs and bacon, pizza and beer - but it seems that a New York City-based animal rights group has found yet another perfect combination. In their new calendar, appropriately named "Hunks and Hounds," they have well-muscled, attractive young men posing with well-furred, adorable dogs.
The organization in question is Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue whose staff has dedicated their time and love to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming abused and forgotten dogs and cats. However, as many animal lovers know, taking care of these animals is not a cheap affair. Many require extensive medical attention and food that does not come without a price. So Louie's Legacy decided to put a new spin on a classic fundraising approach - they made a calendar!
However, their Hunks and Hounds calendar isn't just some pictures of cute pets on the pages for every month; they are accompanied by some pretty attractive looking men as well.
The upcoming 2015 calendar features 12 shirtless men holding adoptable dogs and was shot for free by photographer and animal advocate Mike Ruiz. The proceeds will go towards caring for the animals at Louie's Legacy as well as rescuing hard to place pets out of high kill shelters.
While all dogs that are pictured (and more that are not) are available for adoption, apparently some of the men are too.
"As far as I know, and I know a lot, they are all single. I just hope that people enjoy the images and that they are reminded daily that adopting and loving an animal is the most humane thing a person can do," stated Ruiz in an interview with the press over his recent pro-bono work. The calendars are open for pre-order and hopefully will provide some much needed funds to the creative organization.
