In San Francisco they are rolling out a new food truck into a city that already has a mass of food trucks. This new line of food truck is not for people, but rather for dogs. San Francisco is a city where dogs outnumber children, so it was only natural that this would eventually come to pass. Not just because there are so many four-legged companions in the city, but because pet owners also share a very close bond with them.
The up and coming food truck in question is named Milo's Kitchen Treat Truck. They are a San Francisco based pet treat company, but like many restaurants in the city decided to launch a promotional food truck. The truck first showed up Friday evening in Marina Green Park where they handed out dog treats to over 300 owners and their dogs on the house. Of course, this first stop was the only place where the treats will be completely complimentary. San Francisco served as the first of sixteen stops on the nationwide tour for Milo's Kitchen. During the month of August, the food truck will be stopping at cities including Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Chicago and Detroit. However, canine visitors in those cities will also receive a small complimentary treat bag just for visiting too.
When asked the obvious question of "why a food truck for dogs?" The company spokesperson Chrissy Trampedach made this statement, "Milo’s Kitchen is all about dogs being an equal part of the family, so we thought if people get to enjoy food trucks, why can’t dogs enjoy a treat truck?"
While this food truck may serve up treats for dogs, it is a bigger affair than the usual food truck. Visitors will have the opportunity to get their pictures taken with dogs and dogs can be socialized in their Lapdog Lounge, an area equipped with sofas, drinking bowls, bones, tennis balls, toys and doggy beds.
