It's always the mother of the puppies that cares for them; it is so common that it is almost a fact. However, in one odd rescue story, the pooch they thought was just another caring mother of three puppies ended up to be their father. He had stayed in the steel construction site for weeks taking care of his pups, which share his striking likeness, and a mother has never been spotted.

This wonderful tale comes from Compton, California and the good, hard-working people at the Hope for Paws organization. The co-founder Eldad Hagar made a video about the story starring his volunteer Lisa Arturo and himself trying their best to capture the father dog and his three puppies. Of course, even the video shows them overlooking the father's gender and calling him a good girl. The father of the pups went on to be named Wonton and his three babies Noodle, Ravioli and Macaroni.

Hagar went on to post this special message on Facebook, "This story is so unique because the mom was never seen by the people who fed this family and called us for help. It is so unusual in the dog world, but the dad, Wonton, stayed with his babies and took care of them. He is the most patient dad I have ever seen... he loves his kids so much!!!"

Initially, the puppies were quite skittish. After the first pup was captured, it cried out causing the rescuers to speculate this may have been his first human contact. The second and third puppies were easier to catch, although the final puppy did manage to wedge itself into a pile of lumber.

After being taken to the Hope for Paws facility, the puppies warmed up to their rescuer after they were given bathes and checked out by local veterinarians. In the end, they were full of kisses and wiggly tails. Although the mother has never been spotted where the puppies were found, the construction crew will keep their eyes open in case she comes looking.
