Got a fat cat at home? Well then you already know that when a cat is overweight it can be a bit of a task to get them healthy again. You can't just take a cat for more walks like you could a fat dog so getting them regular exercise can be tricky. However, the One Fast Cat feline exercise wheel may just be exactly what the veterinarian ordered.
One Fast Cat started as a project on Kickstarter by creator Sean Farley with a meager $10,000 goal, which they met in seven hours. Much of the development had already been done prior to the Kickstarter campaign, but the company needed the funds for their first round of production. However, when the 30-day fundraiser ended a few days ago, they surpassed the goal with over $300,000 towards their product which should fund many rounds of production to come.
The feline exercise wheel is much like something that you would likely see in a hamster cage to give them healthy exercise. It is stationary with special padding to prevent a cat's claws from getting stuck and turns smoothly and quietly.
"The most important thing you can do to prevent boredom in your cat is to make sure their environment is stimulating. In field testing, our cat wheel has proven to not only enhance the physical well-being of our cat but altered [the cat's] disposition to be more relaxed and calm, " Farley stated on the One Fast Cat website.
While this is not the first cat wheel on the market, it is considerably cheaper than the other options available. Currently, you're average feline cat wheel will run from around $500 to $1,000, which is well above the price range of the average cat owner. The One Fast Cat feline exercise wheel will be available at a still pricey $249 (shipping included), but is considerably cheaper apart from other options. It comes in four different colors and is easy to assemble and made from recycled materials.
