Three stray dogs in San Juan, Argentina are now being treated to the better life due to the loving care of San Juan's National University security personnel and its students. The three stray dogs who have since been given the names Negrita, Victor Hugo and Batman often lurked around the university campus searching for scraps, but one day one dog was hit by a car and needed medical assistance.
Negrita was hit by a car and even though many thought she would not make it, she was rushed to emergency veterinary services. They performed the surgery on her that saved her life, though she lost a leg in the process. The dog was returned to the university area under the care of the night security guard who found her after the accident. As Negrita healed, the night shift security guard took her on walks with him and they became fast friends. However, he worried about the dog wandering around during the day time, so the day security guards also started caring for her.
Eventually, Negrita's two friends Victor Hugo and Batman found her again. They too became adopted by the security guards. Eventually, the guards even built dog houses on campus in an area to keep them safe.
However, the guards weren't the only people on campus to warm to the motley crew of street pups. Many of the students became attached to the dogs and offered donations of food and funds to help aid with their medical care. Some of the students even made handmade dog sweaters to protect them during winter.
Since this then crew of dogs have been referred to as the unofficial mascots of the school. They live on campus, are up to date with their shots and well loved by the students who find them comforting when they are away from their own pets.
