An abandoned pitbull puppy who was rejected by his mother and found in a garage covered in flies, was given a second chance thanks to a cat named Lurlene.

Noland was only a day old when found by the Cleveland Animal Protective League last June. With a very low chance of survival, the staff were unsure of his future. Amazingly, a mama cat took him in and treated him just like one of her kittens and nursed him back to health.

Thanks to Lurlene's help, he had grown to 18 pounds before moving into foster care with puppies his own age so that he could learn more about how to be a dog.

Even more amazing than the actual story itself, the news of this interspecies adoption also helped the nonprofit win a $25,000 grant from the Petco Foundation!
