Will & Kate's Palace Pooch To Star In Book Series
A right royal canine is soon to steal the hearts of children readers with his own series of books.
Hodder Children's Books has announced the acquisition of a new series of younger fiction titles, Lupo, by debut author Aby King.
The Adventures of a Royal Dog were inspired when King heard about the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's cocker spaniel and began to wonder what life would be like as loyal and loved palace pooch.

King came up with the idea for the books while walking her own cocker spaniel, Lilly, in Kensington Gardens.
"I'd seen in the papers that Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge now had their very own Lilly and I started to think about what life as a royal puppy, with palaces and parks at your disposal, might be like. Over the next few months, the idea never strayed far from my mind. I began to see the scope for mystery and adventure – secret passageways and tunnels in royal palaces, portals to other times."
The first title, Lupo and the Secret of Windsor Castle, will publish in September and three more titles to follow.
"The Lupo series is One Hundred and One Dalmatians for today's readers, offering a totally immersive animal world, with heroism, treachery, friendship and love,” explained Jon Appleton, the company’s editorial director for fiction.
In each book Lupo and his allies must confront treachery and deception, but they also have fun and adventure as they fathom new depths of courage and camaraderie. Along the way, readers will gain insights into the quirks and peculiarities of palace life, the royal family, and get to know a baby who may one day be King.
In this first story, Lupo gets accused of a crime he did not commit – an attack on a precious swan. In his efforts to prove his innocence, he crosses paths with the dastardly corgi, Vulcan – who has discovered a centuries-old secret, which he is determined to use against England and the crown.
